Kapellmeisters of the Cathedral of Lima (1676-1765). Lima has been the capital city of the Viceroyalty of Peru, one of the vastest and the richest Viceroyalties between the Spanish territories in the New Word. As such, during the 17th century, the city attracted both gentlemen and merchants in search of fame and money, as well as a galaxy of intellectuals, painters, musicians and artists of the highest calibre who left their legacy – an artistic treasure nowadays.
