Saint Francis of Assisi is one of the most universal figures in Western history, revered not only by the Catholic tradition but also by Protestant and Orthodox communities, as well as many non-Christians, drawn by his message of poverty, fraternity, and love for creation. His life and legacy have been widely disseminated through biographies, documentaries, and cinematic works, and now find a new interpretation through early music.

The album, commemorating the 800th anniversary of his death in 2026, features the collaboration of Angelo Rusconi and offers a sonic journey through the 13th and 14th centuries, emphasizing the spiritual and intellectual context of the Order of Friars Minor, founded by Francesco Bernardone. The Franciscans made decisive contributions to medieval musical theory and practice, both in the field of plainchant and in theoretical reflection, with fundamental treatises and manuals designed for the musical training of novices and the popular dimension of Franciscanism through the laude spirituali.

The album is available from February 16th on the Capella de Ministrers website, in stores, and on digital platforms.
