CARLES MAGRANER PRESENTS A NEW CONCERT PROGRAM FOR VIOLA DA GAMBA SOLO: THE MUSICAL DISCOURSE
Under the title The Musical Discourse Carles Magraner presents a solo program with the viola da gamba. Exposing, as a dissertation, is a musical proposal structured in four parts: exordium, narratio, argumentatio and peroratio. From this proposal, which emulates the classical rhetoric, Carles Magraner interprets a musical history of the viola da gamba. First on its medieval origins with repertoires of Alfonso the Wise, stampedes and Cancionero de Palacio. It follows the English Renaissance repertoire with Tobias Hume and John Dowland to reach the 17th century in Germany with August Kühnel. Bach and Abel are presented in a third block that preludes the splendor of the French Baroque instrument in the hands of Marin Marais and François Couperin. The program is accompanied by poetry of each historical period and three instruments: a vihuela de arco copy of a 15th century table of Montoliu, a viol copy of Thomas Cole and Richard Meares and a basse de viole Michel Colichon model from 18th century.
The concert will take place next november 22, in the University of Alicante, La Seu, at 08:30 pm
